A Neurocomputational Approach to Trained and Transitive Relations in Equivalence Classes

2017

A stimulus class can be composed of perceptually different but functionally equivalent stimuli. The relations between the stimuli that are grouped in a class can be learned or derived from other stimulus relations. If stimulus A is equivalent to B, and B is equivalent to C, then the equivalence between A and C can be derived without explicit training. In this work we propose, with a neurocomputational model, a basic learning mechanism for the formation of equivalence. We also describe how the relatedness between the members of an equivalence class is developed for both trained and derived stimulus relations. Three classic studies on stimulus equivalence are simulated covering typical and at…

Learning and behaviour of three- to five-year-old children with ADHD / Aprendizaje y conducta de niños y niñas con TDAH de tres a cinco años

2015

AbstractEarly childhood education is a developmental period in which early symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be observed. This work examines the educational background of 206 children, from the ages of three to five years (109 of them with an ADHD diagnosis and 97 without a clinical diagnosis), by analysing 306 reports from their teachers. The aim of this study is to discover if these educational reports reflect differences in academic performance and behaviour between both groups. The 123 educational goals analysed in the reports have been classified into 15 categories. A nonparametric analysis (Chi square) was performed on each variable to compare ADHD/contro…

Non-linear neuro-inspired circuits and systems: Processing and learning issues

2018

In this chapter the main elements useful for the design and realization of the neural architectures reported in the following chapters will be presented. Considering spiking and non-spiking neurons, the models used for implementing each of them, the synaptic models, the basic learning and plasticity algorithms and the network architectures will be introduced and analysed. The key elements that led to their selection and application in the developed neuro-inspired systems will be discussed briefly.
